FOR EXEMPLARY SERVICE DURING HURRICANE MELISSA OPERATIONS

Commander Defence Force, Commodore Floyd Moxey, and his Executive Leadership Team met with the marines deployed to Acklins, Crooked Island, and Mayaguana ahead of Hurricane Melissa at Defence Headquarters on 3 November 2025.

Commodore Moxey praised the marines for their operational readiness and emphasized that their actions embody the true spirit of service to the Bahamian people. “As marines, this is what we are called to do.” Their commitment in times of uncertainty reflects the dedication and resilience that define the Force.

Commodore Moxey thanked the marines for their professionalism and dedication as members of the Advance Teams in the southeastern islands. He highlighted their operational readiness to respond in the face of impending disaster. To honour their exemplary service, he presented each marine with the Commander Defence Force, Challenge Coin, expressing his sincere gratitude for their commitment.
