Thirty-two (32) Customs Officers successfully graduated from the 9MM and M4 Certification Training Course at Bahamas Customs on Thompson Boulevard on October 24, 2024.
The rigorous training program was supervised by RBDF instructors from the Commando Sqaudron Department, which is commanded by Commander Edward Fritz. Throughout the course, they were provided with invaluable expertise and mentorship. The training not only encompassed technical proficiency with firearms, but also emphasized critical situational awareness and decision-making under pressure, essential skills for officers operating in today’s complex security environment.
In his remarks, during the ceremony, Captain Coral Harbour, Glenn McPhee highlighted the numerous challenges faced by the graduates throughout their training. He commended their dedication, emphasizing that the course will prepare them for the varying demands of their roles.
Comptroller of Customs, Ralph Munroe also addressed the attendees, highlighting the collaborative efforts between the RBDF and Bahamas Customs. Munroe mentioned how important the training program is in equipping officers with the necessary skills to navigate the complexities of their customs enforcement effectively. He expressed gratitude for the partnership, and how it will strengthen operational readiness and enhance the overall security framework of the Bahamas.
With all of the certificates awarded to the graduates, this ceremony marks a significant achievement in their careers. As these officers move forward, they carry with them not only newly acquired skills but also the expectation of upholding the highest standards of professionalism and integrity in their duties.
