The Royal Bahamas Defence Force is a statutory body enacted by an Act of Parliament and became official on 31 March 1980. The Royal Bahamas Defence Force is charges with:

(a) The Defence of the Bahamas

 (b) The Protection of the territorial integrity of the Bahamas

(c) The patrol of the waters of the Bahamas

(d) Generally with assistance and relief in times of disaster. The maintenance         of order in the Bahamas in conjunction with the law enforcement agencies of    the Bahamas with such other duties as may be from time to time be determined     by the Security Council.

Job Title
Registrar
Summary

As a vital contributor to institutional effectiveness, the Registrar at the RBDF MMA holds a pivotal role in safeguarding the integrity, accuracy and security of all academic records for current and former students. This role demands individuals with exceptional administrative and organizational abilities, ranging a contributing role in maintaining the academic integrity and operational efficiency of the Academy.

Key Responsibilities
  • Ensure the integrity, accuracy, and security of student academic records; including grades, transcripts and degree audits.
  • Monitor and report on enrollment trends, which involves analyzing data on student admissions, retention and graduation rates
  • Manage the scheduling of courses, classrooms and other academic courses. This task includes optimizing the use of space and resources while meeting the needs of students and faculty.
  • Assist with accreditation process by providing necessary data and reports. Registrar ensured that the academy meets the academic standards set by accrediting bodies.
  • Oversee the process related to graduation, including verifying completion of graduation requirements, diploma issuance and planning commencement ceremonies
  • Oversee the student management system (SMS) and ensure its effective use for registration, record keeping and reporting.
  • Collaboration with other Departments. Collaborating with other administrative and academic departments to support the overall institutional goals and student success.
  • Liaise with external agencies as necessary
  • Reports to the President (RBDFMMA)
Qualifications/Experience
  1. Master’s Degree in higher education or related field with a minimum of five years of experience of Bachelor’s Degree and 10-15 years’ experience in a similar role.
  2. Experience with student management systems an record keeping
  3. Strong knowledge of academic policies and procedures.
  4. Excellent organizational, communications and interpersonal skills
  5. Able to manage sensitive and confidential information with integrity.
  6. Proven Leadership and team management skills.
  7. Provide the compliance agencies reporting.
  8. Excellent customer service skills

Summary

The Chief Administration Officer at the RBDF MMA is pivotal in driving operational excellence and administrative leadership. The role is central to refining and managing the daily operational activities optimizing the effectiveness of administrative processes and enhancing overall efficiency. The Chief Administrative Officer plays a critical role in ensuring that the Academy‘s administrative strategies support its educational goals, maintaining a harmonious balance between operational demands and academic excellence.

 

Key Responsibilities
  • Direct and optimize day-to-day administrative activities, ensuring operational excellence and efficiency.
  • Formulate and implement strategic administrative goals in line with the Academy’s mission and objectives.
  • Redesign and modernize administrative systems and processes for streamlined operations
  • Foster strong relationships with faculty, staff, students and external partners, promoting a culture of discipline and inclusivity.
  • Manage financial operations with a focus on long term sustainability, including budgeting financial planning and source allocation.
  • Actively engage with vendors in the Maritime sectors as government representatives to enhance the Academy’s profile and influence.
  • Cultivate a culture of excellence and discipline aligning staff and faculty with the Academy’s values and goals.

  • Financial Management: Over sing the Academy’s financial operations, including budgeting, accounting and financial planning. This involves ensuring financial stability and deficiency.
  • Operational Oversight: Managing he day-to-day administrative operations of the Academy which may encompass facilities management, human resources, information technology and procurement.
  • Policy Development and Compliance: Developing and implementing administrative policies and ensuring compliance with regulating and accreditation requirement.
  • Human Resources Management: overseeing the recruitment, development and retention of staff and ensuring that human resource policies support the Academy’s goals and comply with the requisite labour laws.
  • Facilities Management: Ensuring that the Academy’s physical infrastructure and resources are efficiently maintained and developed to support is educational objectives.
  • Stakeholder Engagements: Collaborating with internal and external stake holders, including faculty, staff, students, government agencies and community organizations, to foster positive relationships and support the Academy’s mission.
  • Risk Management: Identifying and managing risks to the Academy, including financial, operational, reputational, and compliance risks.
  • Technology Oversight: Guiding the implementation and management of technology solutions to support educational and administrative functions.
  • Crisis Management: Leading the response to emergencies or crisis that affect the Academy’s protection or community.
  • Report to the President.
Qualifications/Experience
  1. Master’s Degree in a relevant field.
  2. A minimum of 10-15 years in administrative roles, preferably in education or a related field.
  3. Demonstrated ability in managing educational intuitions
  4. Proficient in budgeting and resource allocation
  5. Skills in strategic planning and implementation
  6. Ability to lead and inspire a diverse team.

The Chief Academic Officer (CAO) at the BMMA is a pivotal Leadership role responsible for steering the Academy’s academy vision and strategies, with a special focus on maintaining and enhancing academic standards in maritime and military disciplines. A key part of this role includes leading the Academy’s efforts in accreditation, ensuring programs meet the highest educational and industry standards.

Key Responsibilities
  • Oversee the development and implementation of Maritime and Military Program offerings as well as other academic programs.
  • Lend the Academy’s quality assurance processes (i.e., Registration, accreditation, recognition etc.) ensuring compliance with national and international academic and professional standards.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with accrediting bodies and other quality assurance authorities, managing all aspects of the accrediting life cycle.
  • Ensure continuous alignment of curriculum, teaching methodologies, and assessment strategies with quality assistance requirements.
  • Conduct regular reviews of academic programs to ensure ongoing compliance and quality improvement
  • Facilitate faculty development initiatives that align with quality assistance standards and requirements.
  • Collaborate with internal and external standards to advance the Academy’s reputation and standing.
  • Foster partnerships with industry and community organizations to enhance practical learning opportunities and ensure that academic programs remain relevant, current and meet future industry needs.

  • Curriculum Development: Ensuring the curriculum is up to date, relevant, and aligns with accreditation standards.
  • Assessment and Accreditations: Overseeing program assessments and maintaining accreditation in standards.
Budget Management

Reports to the President (BMMA)

Qualifications/Experience

  • Doctoral Degree in relevant discipline or Master’s Degree in similar role.
  • In-depth knowledge of national and international accrediting standard in education, preferably with a focus on Military or Maritime disciplined.
  • Demonstrated experience in managing accreditation procedures and maintaining relationships with quality assurance authorities.
