ON THE ROYAL BAHAMAS DEFENCE FORCE.Formed in 1985 with a cohort of 51 members, Entry 17 of the Royal Bahamas Defence Force commemorated its 40th anniversary with a series of meaningful events highlighting their enduring legacy of service and unity.
On Wednesday, 25 June 2025, the group paid a courtesy call on Her Excellency the Most Hon. Cynthia A. Pratt, Governor General of the Commonwealth of The Bahamas.
Members reflected on their years of service, particularly during Her Excellency’s tenure as Minister of National Security from 2002 to 2007. In turn, the Governor General shared memorable moments of her time working alongside the Defence Force. As a token of appreciation, Entry 17 presented her with a commemorative plaque recognizing her enduring support and the significance of the milestone.
That same day, the group also visited the Commander Defence Force, Commodore Floyd Moxey, who congratulated them on reaching this important event and expressed gratitude for their continued commitment and contributions to the Force.
The celebrations culminated in a Divine Worship Service on Sunday, 29 June 2025, at First Baptist Church on Market Street. Songs of praise and worship filled the sanctuary, fostering an atmosphere of fellowship and gratitude. Pastor Diana Francis delivered an inspiring sermon encouraging steadfastness in faith, unity, and perseverance.
Force Chief Petty Officer Rolle addressed the congregation on behalf of Entry 17, offering heartfelt thanks for the church’s warm welcome. In appreciation, he presented a token to Pastor Francis, acknowledging the church’s hospitality and spiritual support.
Today, Entry 17 proudly counts eight members still actively serving in the Force, while honoring the memory of six fallen comrades. Their legacy remains a vital part of the Defence Force’s ongoing story.
The Royal Bahamas Defence Force extends sincere congratulations to Entry 17 for 40 years of exemplary service and unwavering dedication to the nation.
