A distinguished group of Senior Rates successfully completed the Petty Officer Leadership & Supervisory Management Course 01/2024, celebrated in a graduation ceremony held at HMBS Coral Harbour Base on November 11, 2024.

Course facilitators, Force Chief Petty Officer Duane Gibson, Chief Petty Officer Andy Deveaux, and Chief Petty Officer Stacey Ferguson, led the intensive two-week program, inspiring the highest standards of excellence, integrity, and professionalism. Tailored for senior enlisted personnel, the course focused on equipping participants with advanced leadership and supervisory skills essential for excelling in management roles within the Defence Force.

Through rigorous training, participants honed their competencies in key areas, including Ethics, Mentorship, and the Divisional System, with assessments designed to ensure both theoretical understanding and practical proficiency. Continuous evaluations challenged each participant to exhibit leadership, uphold naval bearing, and demonstrate their readiness to lead.

A highlight of the course was a community outreach project, where cohort members pooled resources to support the Elizabeth Children’s Home. This charitable contribution reflects the course’s emphasis on service and community engagement. Participants also attended a worship service at Living Waters Kingdom Ministries, where Apostle Raymond Wells encouraged them to strengthen their faith and embrace a spiritual foundation to guide their personal and professional lives.

During the graduation ceremony, Captain Glenn McPhee delivered a powerful address, posing a critical question to the course participants: “When you put on your uniform, are you the example you expect of your subordinates and your superiors?” He emphasized the importance of leading by example and inspired them to drive positive change through their leadership and actions.

Captain Glenn McPhee, accompanied by Training Officer Commander Byron Brown and other department heads, proudly presented the course graduates with their certificates of completion.

This training aligns with Commander Defence Force Commodore Raymond King’s vision to cultivate a workforce committed to performance excellence. Through continuous development, the Royal Bahamas Defence Force is dedicated to enhancing the quality and capabilities of its personnel, empowering them to fulfill the Defence Force’s mission and mandate with excellence.
