Her Majesty’s Bahamian Ship (HMBS) BAHAMAS made a brief port of call on Wednesday October 10 in Funchal, Madeira, Portugal before continuing on her way to Coral Harbour Base.

While at the port, Commander Gregory Brown, Commanding Officer HMBS BAHAMAS made a courtesy call on the Portuguese naval officials. Funchal, Madeira Islands is an Overseas Territory of Portugal, which lies over 600 miles north of Western Sahara, Africa. The vessel also refueled before departing the country.

HMBS BAHAMAS, a Bahama Class vessel, departed Maaskant Shipyard, Netherlands on October 4th. She will run under her own steam covering over 4,000 nautical miles during her Trans-Atlantic voyage, arriving in New Providence later this month.

The RBDF flagship has a complement of 31 crewmembers, along with 3 Dutch advisors.
