HMBS Nassau under the Command of Commander Sydney Whyms successfully completed the Annual Sea Training Readiness and Range Exercise at HMBS Coral Harbour from 11–18 March 2026, reinforcing a commitment to maintaining a highly skilled and operationally ready Crew. The course provided intensive instructions in core maritime competencies essential to safeguarding The Bahamas’ territorial waters. It included both theoretical and practical components focused on seamanship, operational awareness, and safety procedures at sea.

For example, small boat handling, navigation, line handling, vessel maneuvering, watchkeeping, emergency response procedures, coordination during patrol operations and adherence to established maritime protocols.

The Annual Sea Training Readiness exercise provided weapons familiarization and live-fire exercises at the shooting range, reinforcing proficiency and safety in weapons handling. The hands-on exercises simulated real-world operational scenarios, strengthened teamwork, situational awareness, and the ability to respond effectively to evolving maritime challenges.

The Annual Sea Training Readiness exercise forms part of the RBDF’s efforts to ensure personnel remain proficient and mission-ready to conduct maritime law enforcement, search and rescue, disaster response, and territorial surveillance.

The Royal Bahamas Defence Force, under Commodore Moxey’s leadership, is optimizing excellence by bridging generations and embracing modernization. As such, we congratulate HMBS Nassau on the successful completion of the Annual Sea Training Readiness and Range Exercise and look forward to their contribution as we Guard our Heritage.
