In a coordinated effort, the Royal Bahamas Defence Force and the United States Coast Guard have successfully rescued six (6) individuals from a capsized vessel located 21 nautical miles off of the coast of Little Inagua.

The RBDF received intelligence from Operation Bahamas, Turks and Caicos (OPBAT), prompting the deployment of the RBDF surface assets, HMBS Kamalamee and a Safeboat to assist in the search and rescue operation. The US Coast Guard discovered the occupants of the distressed vessel and ensured their safe recovery.

The rescued individuals have been transported to Matthew Town, Inagua. Meanwhile, HMBS Kamalamee and the RBDF Safeboat continue to search the area for the two (2) missing persons. Commodore Raymond E. King is steadfast in his commitment to fostering enhanced collaboration between the Royal Bahamas Defence Force (RBDF) and local law enforcement agencies, as well as regional partners. Through joint operations and proactive information sharing, these strategic alliances serve as force multipliers, effectively addressing both existingand potential challenges.

The RBDF remains dedicated to the pursuit of excellence in guarding our heritage. We are committed to upholding the highest standards as we protect and preserve the rich legacy that defines our nation.
