Midshipman Jamon King recently paid a courtesy call on Commander Defence Force, Commodore Floyd Moxey on 22 May 2025, following his successful completion of the Initial Officer Training Program at the Caribbean Military Academy in Kingston, Jamaica.
Midshipman King embarked on the year-long training course in May 2024, where he underwent rigorous military instruction and academic development. The program placed a strong emphasis on leadership training, military discipline, academic excellence, and physical fitness elements designed to shape the next generation of military officers in the region.
Reflecting on his experience, Midshipman King shared that the training was both challenging and rewarding. “It was a very rigorous and intense course that really helped sharpen my leadership skills,” he stated.
His hard work and dedication were recognized as he graduated with distinction, receiving the International Student Development Award as well as the International Achievement Award for excellence in both military and academic performance.
Since returning home, just one day after his graduation ceremony Midshipman King had the opportunity to reconnect with loved one and was eventually welcomed back by Commodore Moxey.
Reflecting on the meeting, Midshipman King said, “Meeting Commodore Moxey was a truly encouraging experience. He expressed genuine interest in my development and made it clear that I have the full support of the organization. It was motivating to know that our leadership is so invested in our growth and future.”
King described the training experience as one of the most significant accomplishments of his career thus far. “The tools I’ve acquired during this course will undoubtedly take me further in my career, and I look forward to contributing at the highest level to the Defence Force.”
The Royal Bahamas Defence Force continues to invest in the development of its personnel, confident that officers like Midshipman King represent the future leadership of the organization.
