The Honorable Philip Davis, Prime Minister of the Commonwealth of The Bahamas, accompanied by Commander Defence Force, Commodore Raymond King, and other senior government officials, paid a significant visit to HMBS Coral Harbour-North on Thursday, April 17, 2025. The occasion marked the culmination of a week- long Basic Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) Disaster Simulation Exercise.
Organized by certified CERT instructors and executed by the Bahamas National Youth Guard (NYG), the final simulation was a compelling demonstration of youth readiness and national preparedness. 104 NYG participants showcased the practical skills they had acquired throughout the intensive training.
The exercise featured three core components: Fire Safety and Utility Controls, Light Search and Rescue, and Disaster Medical Response. Each scenario was designed to mimic real-life emergencies, challenging participants to respond swiftly, safely, and effectively as they would during a national disaster.
The Prime Minister and his delegation observed the simulations with keen interest, commending the participants for their discipline, courage, and commitment to community service. The event underscored the importance of youth involvement in national resilience efforts and reaffirmed the government’s support for strengthening disaster preparedness across The Bahamas.
In alignment with the organization’s commitment to “The Pursuit of Excellence in Guarding Our Heritage,” the Royal Bahamas Defence Force, under the leadership of Commander Defence Force, Commodore Raymond E. King, remains steadfast in its mission to foster the development of our nation through actively engaging in impactful and purposeful ways.
