The Royal Bahamas Defence Force officially launched the Small Boat Maritime Law Enforcement Course at HMBS Coral Harbour on 19 November 2025, underscoring National Security as a central pillar of the Government’s “Blueprint for Change.” Delivered in partnership with the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC), the course will run from 19 November to 1 December 2025 and reflects a continued commitment to strengthening regional maritime security capacity.

This training initiative provides operational, scenario-driven instructions designed to address the evolving security threats in the region, including the instability in Haiti. With The Bahamas already contributing RBDF troops to the Multinational Security Support Mission and the Gang Suppression Force in Haiti, the course will further enhance maritime law enforcement capability within The Bahamas while supporting Haiti’s ability to secure its waters. Additionally, the course reinforces the Caribbean’s collective commitment to counter illegal migration, drug trafficking, and transnational criminal networks.

Commander Defence Force Commodore Floyd Moxey declared that the Small Boat Maritime Law Enforcement Course represents a strategic investment in regional stability, maritime security and the strengthening of professional bonds across our shared Caribbean waters.

Minister of National Security, the Honourable Wayne Munroe, K.C., MP reaffirmed the Government’s steadfast support for the Defence Force through investments in human capital, equipment, and training. He emphasized that the modernized infrastructure at HMBS Coral Harbour along with Fleet upgrades, new safe boats, aerial surveillance assets, mobility enhancements, and plans for a new flagship offshore patrol vessel forms the foundation for strategic training courses like this one. By strengthening both physical assets and regional partnerships, The Bahamas continues to position itself as a leading force in Caribbean maritime security, demonstrating its resolve to safeguard national sovereignty through modernization, preparedness, and strategic cooperation.

The RBDF, under the leadership of Commodore Floyd Moxey, is optimizing excellence by bridging generations and embracing modernization. As such, we remain committed to capacity-building, operational cooperation, and sustained regional engagements.
