Deputy Commander Defence Force, Captain Carlon Bethell and members of the Royal Bahamas Defence Force Executive Team attended the Flag Raising Ceremony to mark the official opening of the United States Embassy at 253 Shirley Street in Nassau on Thursday, 18 September 2025.

The state-of-the-art diplomatic complex represents a major milestone in Bahamian–U.S. relations, strengthening bilateral ties, improving consular services, and advancing cooperation in regional security, disaster response, and maritime protection.

The ceremony was attended by the Governor General, Her Excellency The Most Honourable Cynthia Pratt ON, GCMG, Prime Minister the Honourable Philip Davis KC, Chief Justice Sir Ian R. Winder, U.S. Chargé d’Affaires Ms. Kimberly Furnish, Cabinet Ministers, and members of the diplomatic community.

The RBDF, under the leadership of Commodore Floyd Moxey, is optimizing excellence by bridging generations and embracing modernization. As such, the RBDF’s presence highlights its role as a key national security partner and reinforced the importance of collaboration in protecting The Bahamas and promoting regional stability.
