Just over two hundred Officers and Marines from the Royal Bahamas Defence Force were recognized and honoured during a grant of Commission and Presentation of Medals and Awards ceremony at HMBS CORAL HARBOUR on Thursday, March 18, 2021. 

In keeping with Commander Defence Force, Dr. Raymond King’s leadership focus on talent management- recognizing and rewarding organizational members for exemplary services, meritorious acts, and prolonged services marked by exceptional merit and conduct, the Officers and Marines were awarded various awards and decorations as tokens of appreciation for their contributions and stellar services to the country, and the organization.

Among the honorees were twelve Senior Officers, who were presented with the Distinguished Service awards, twenty-nine Officers and Warrants Officers, who were presented with the Meritorious Service Awards, and sixteen Officers, who were presented with their Commissions by the Governor-General of the Commonwealth of The Bahamas, the Most Honorable Sir Cornelius A. Smith. Additionally, one hundred and forty Officers and Marines received thirty (30)-year Long Service clasps. 

Bringing remarks was the Minister of National Security, the Honorable Marvin Dames, who congratulated the recipients of the Officer Commissions and the Long Service and Good Conduct Medals. He also thanked them on behalf of the Governor-General, for their invaluable service to the people of The Bahamas over the years.

Minister Dames commended Commodore Raymond King, Commander Defence Force, his Executive Command, and Officers and Marines for their significant contribution to the growth and development of the Force and the country.
