The Royal Bahamas Defence Force (RBDF) Band delivered an unforgettable musical experience under the theme “A Wonderful World of Music, A New Dimension” on Thursday, December 5, 2024, at the Amphitheatre at the Nassau Cruise Port. The evening was graced by the distinguished patronage of Her Excellency the Most Honourable Dame Cynthia Pratt, ON, GCMG, CB, JP, Governor General of the Commonwealth of The Bahamas.
The concert, conducted by Senior Lieutenant Kevin Toote, showcased the exceptional talents of more than 40 dedicated band members. From stirring brass fanfares to soulful woodwind melodies, the ensemble transported the audience on a rich and vibrant musical journey. Each special performance highlighted the musicians’ passion, discipline, and commitment to excellence through their artistry.
Under the open skies of Nassau’s iconic cruise port, attendees were treated to a selection of music that spanned classical compositions, folk tunes, and contemporary hits, including a Bahamian favorite that reflected the diverse cultural heritage of The Bahamas. The synergy between the musicians and the audience created an atmosphere of unity and celebration.
Speaking at the event, retired Force Chief Petty Officer Fredricka King, wife of Commander Defence Force Commodore Raymond King, presented awards to children who participated in the art display for the Month of the Military Child. The display was themed For We Too Serve: Hearts Anchored at Home and Sea. Awards were also presented to past band directors in recognition of their significant contributions to music and service.
Base Executive Officer Commander Origin Deleveaux expressed his gratitude to Senior Lieutenant Toote, the band members, RBDF leadership, and supporters for their unwavering dedication to advancing the arts within the Defence Force. He also extended thanks to the sponsors for their continued contributions and partnership, which were instrumental in making the concert a success.
