In a grand display of military tradition, the Royal Bahamas Defence Force (RBDF) conducted a Changing of the Guard Ceremony at Government House on January 31, 2025, under the patronage of Her Excellency, the Most Honourable Dame Cynthia Pratt, Governor General of The Bahamas.

The ceremony commenced with the Royal Bahamas Defence Force Band leading the new guard in a ceremonial march from Parliament Street to Government House and performing a marching display before the official guard exchange took place.

In keeping with tradition, a member of the new guard relieved a member of the old guard as sentry, symbolizing the seamless transition of duty and vigilance at the nation’s official residence. As part of the ceremony Her Excellency conducted an official inspection of the guard. The event concluded with the new and outgoing guards, led by the RBDF Band, marching back to Parliament Street with precision and discipline.

Following the Changing of the Guard, Her Excellency hosted an Outstanding Service Award Ceremony to recognize the exemplary dedication of RBDF personnel stationed at the Government House Outpost. Accepting the award on behalf of all Marines who dutifully served at the outpost were Captain Coral Harbour, Captain Glenn McPhee, Commander Andrew Bowe and department heads.

The Royal Bahamas Defence Force remains steadfast in its commitment to excellence, professionalism, and national service. Under the leadership of Commander Defence Force, Commodore Raymond King, the RBDF continues to uphold the highest standards of discipline and dedication in safeguarding the nation’s heritage and interests.
