In keeping with Commodore Dr. Raymond King’s strategic objective for Decentralization, Commander Judy McDonald, Commander Administration conducted a tour of The Exuma Land and Sea Park Deployment on Thursday 28 November 2024.

The visit had four objectives: 1. to conduct an inspection to ensure that equipment and personnel are maintained at the highest standard of naval discipline and bearing, 2. provided an opportunity to assess the morale and welfare of personnel, as well as to reinforce the Commander Defence Force’s Strategic Vision regarding decentralization, 3. to convey thanksgiving sentiments to the troops on behalf of Commander Defence Force and encouraged them to remain steadfast in their duties, 4. enjoy Thanksgiving lunch with the Marines.

Commander McDonald commended the Marines for their sacrifice of service while being away from their families. She was accompanied by Sub Lieutenant Charles Murphy and Leading Woman Marine Kendra Knowles.

As dictated by Defence Force tradition, at Thanksgiving, roles are reversed, and Officers (Managers of the Force) put on their aprons and gloves to serve their Enlisted (line staff) staff members, ensuring they are fed and fit for battle. Therefore, Commander McDonald and Sub Lieutenant Murphy dutifully served the Marines Thanksgiving Lunch.

The Exuma Land and Sea Park Deployment Team is currently led by Leading Seaman Lamon Johnson. HMBS P-130, was employed to facilitate the visit to The Exuma Land and Sea Park Deployment. The Coxswain is Chief Petty Officer Eric Rolle, assisted by Leading Seaman Denzel Bullard, Able Seaman Kenneth Musgrove and Marine Mechanic Da’vantae Rolle.

The Royal Bahamas Defence Force is grateful for every opportunity to pause with thanksgiving as we pursue excellence in “Guarding Our Heritage”.
