The Royal Bahamas Defence Force (RBDF) continues to strengthen its commitment to community engagement as Commodore Raymond King attended the Empowerment Hour Programme Launch Ceremony held at the Nassau Village Community Centre, Alexandria Boulevard on March 3rd, 2025.
The Honorable Myles K. LaRoda, MP, Minister of Social Services, Information, and Broadcasting, and The Honorable Wayne Munroe, KC, MP, Minister of National Security, both of whom offered words of congratulations and praise for the initiative, attended the event.
A major highlight of the ceremony was the unveiling of a stunning mural on the western side of the community center, created by local Bahamian artist and Ambassador to UNESCO, His Excellency Jamaal Rolle. The artwork embodies the strength of the Nassau Village community, symbolizing that the struggles once faced can be overcome. Rolle shared that the inspiration behind the mural is “every student aiming for greatness despite their circumstances.”
Member of Parliament for Nassau Village, Hon. Jamahl D. Strachan, expressed enthusiasm about the project, emphasizing the significance of the new community center and its role in empowering residents. He highlighted the Empowerment Hour Programme as a transformative initiative designed to provide critical resources and opportunities for community members.
Strachan also commended the collaboration between the Ministry of Social Services and the Ministry of National Security in making the vision a reality, while extending gratitude to His Excellency Jamaal Rolle for his artistic contribution to the center’s visual identity.
