In a significant step toward enhanced inter-agency collaboration, Commander Origin Deleveaux, Commanding Officer of the Royal Bahamas Defence Force (RBDF) NORTHERN COMMAND, made a courtesy call on the Honourable Ginger Moxey, Minister for Grand Bahama, and her senior administrative team on Monday, 9 February 2026.

The courtesy call, held at the Ministry’s headquarters in Freeport, centered on aligning the RBDF’s strategic operational objectives with the Ministry’s development agenda for Grand Bahama. Discussions focused on strengthening security, enhancing disaster preparedness, and fostering community resilience through coordinated planning, partnership and key components of NORTHERN COMMAND’S development plan, including infrastructure initiatives aimed at improving operational readiness and expanding the Force’s footprint on the island.

Commander Deleveaux expressed on behalf of Commander Defence Force Commodore Floyd Moxey that “Our strategic initiatives in Grand Bahama are grounded in partnership and a shared vision for a secure and prosperous future,” . “Engagement with the Ministry ensures that our operational priorities complement national security objectives while supporting the broader developmental goals for Grand Bahama. We remain committed to being an active and integrated partner in the island’s continued progress.”

Minister Moxey expressed appreciation for the RBDF’s service to Grand Bahama, particularly acknowledging the bravery and critical support provided by marines during the wildfire outbreak in Spring 2025. She reaffirmed her Ministry’s commitment to the COLLAB Unit model, which promotes strengthened inter-agency cooperation to maximize community impact.

“The RBDF is an indispensable partner in Grand Bahama,” said Minister Moxey. “Their role extends beyond traditional defence functions to include disaster response, youth development, and community engagement. This meeting reinforced our shared commitment to working collaboratively to enhance safety, opportunity, and resilience for all Grand Bahamians.”

The meeting produced tangible outcomes, including the Ministry’s pledge of support to the RBDF Rangers Programme through the provision of uniforms and instruments. Discussions also highlighted the continued importance of the RBDF National Youth Guard and ongoing recruitment initiatives, which provide meaningful career pathways and personal development opportunities for young Bahamians.
