In keeping with Commodore Dr. Raymond King’s strategic objective of strengthening relationships with stakeholders and the community at large, Marines deployed to SOUTHERN COMMAND, along with crewmembers of Her Majesty’s Bahamian Ship ROLLY GRAY collaborated to assist a resident.

On Saturday 30th January 2021, led by Leading Seaman Reonardo McKenzie, the Gunpoint Detachment along with four Marines of HMBS ROLLY GRAY conducted a community service at the resident of Mrs. Elma Wilson, southwest of Duncan Town, by cutting down trees and weeding portion of her yard which proved to be hazardous to her power line.

Under the favorable approval of Squadron Commanding Officer, Commander Milton Munroe, the ship’s company assisted with the cutting of trees, garbage/debris removal, and weeding. Lieutenant Themo Berkley, Commanding Officer of HMBS ROLLY GRAY, was enthusiastic and agreed to collaborate with the Gunpoint Detachment in the cleanup efforts.  The activity was supervised by Chief Petty Officer Terrance Arnett, and the community service was approved by Captain Glenn McPhee, Captain of SOUTHERN COMMAND. Mrs. Wilson is a widow and senior person in the outskirt of her Community in Duncan Town, Ragged Island.

The Royal Bahamas Defence Force remains committed to guarding our Heritage.
