The Royal Bahamas Defence Force (RBDF) successfully hosted its 5th Annual Commodore’s Bowl Flag Football Tournament at the Thomas A. Robinson Stadium Flag Football Fields, bringing together officers and marines in a spirited display of athleticism, teamwork, and unit pride.
The tournament featured four competitive teams—Alpha (Blue), Bravo (Red), Charlie (Yellow), and Delta (Green)—each vying for top honors in a high-energy contest that highlighted the physical readiness and cohesion of RBDF personnel. Proceedings began with the formal introduction of teams, followed by a stirring rendition of the National Anthem performed by the RBDF Band.
The opening prayer was delivered by the Rt. Honourable Delton Fernander, RBDF Chaplain, setting a reflective tone for the day’s activities. Sub Lieutenant Otis Ferguson, Assistant Training Officer, extended welcoming remarks, while Captain Natasha Miller, Deputy Commander Defence Force, delivered the official opening address and ceremonially initiated the tournament with the first throw. Commander Byron Brown, Commander BMMA, formally commenced the competition with the traditional coin toss.
After a series of competitive matchups, the championship game saw Alpha and Delta face off in a thrilling finale. Team Alpha emerged victorious, securing the championship title and earning top honors for the tournament.
Individual excellence was also recognized, with standout performances across multiple categories:
- Most Valuable Player & Most Outstanding Female: Woman Marine L’aokoye Ferguson
- Most Outstanding Male: Leading Seaman Jared Rolle
- Best Female Kicker: Woman Marine Jessica Williams
- Best Male Kicker: Able Seaman Ken Mullings
- Best Female Thrower: Woman Marine Danielle Zonicle
- Best Male Thrower: Able Seaman Ivan Rolle
The annual tournament continues to serve as a cornerstone event for fostering esprit de corps, resilience, and camaraderie among RBDF personnel.
