The Royal Bahamas Defence Force held its Annual Thanksgiving and Career Transitioning Service on Thursday, 27 November 2025, at HMBS Coral Harbour under the theme “Return to Gratitude.” The Service provided a moment of reflection and appreciation, honouring both former and active duty service personnel. Retired Officers and Marines were recognized for their many years of dedicated service, while active duty service personnel were encouraged to reflect on their accomplishments and professional growth throughout the past year.
Commander Defence Force, Commodore Floyd Moxey, delivered remarks expressing heartfelt gratitude to the extraordinary men and women of the Royal Bahamas Defence Force. He emphasized the unwavering commitment to duty and the steadfast devotion to the continued growth of the Force. Commodore Moxey also highlighted the collective achievements made over the past year in support of national security and mission success.
Defence Force Chaplain, Chief Apostle Dr. Raymond Wells, delivered a timely sermon centered on “a heart of humility is a heart of gratitude,” encouraging all in attendance to reflect deeply during this season of thanksgiving.
This year’s honourees included Captain Shonedel Pinder (Retired), recognized for 37 years of distinguished service, with the last five years in the appointment as Deputy Commander Defence Force; Mr. Alfred Williams, was celebrated for 40 years in Culinary Arts, including 14 years dedicated to the growth and development of the RBDF Galley; and Chief Petty Officer Tyrone Kellman, (Retired) was honoured for 34 years of committed service. Each honouree received a commemorative award, a plaque and gift basket in recognition of their lasting impact on the organization.
The Royal Bahamas Defence Force under Commodore Moxey’s leadership, is optimizing excellence by bridging generations and embracing modernization. As such, we salute all Officers and Marines for their exceptional dedication, and steadfast service which continues to strengthen the security and well-being of the Commonwealth of The Bahamas.
