The Ministry of National Security, the Royal Bahamas Defence Force (RBDF), and the British High Commission met at the Ministry of National Security in the Orville A. Turnquest Building on 24 September 2025 to discuss strengthening bilateral cooperation.
The Honourable Wayne R. Munroe KC, MP, Minister of National Security, Ms. Gaynell Rolle, Under Secretary and Commodore Floyd Moxey, Commander Defence Force, were joined by Her Excellency Smita Rossetti, British High Commissioner, and Lieutenant Colonel Keith Brewster, the United Kingdom’s Defence Attaché to the Caribbean, along with Jerusa Léa Dean Ali, Director General of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, whose attendance added further diplomatic weight to the discussions.
The discussions focused on enhancing security collaboration, training opportunities, and maintaining strong ties between The Bahamas and the United Kingdom. The RBDF Fleet requirements, that could benefit from UK shipbuilders were explored.
Commodore Moxey reaffirmed the RBDF’s dedication to collaboration and partnership, highlighting the longstanding relationship with the United Kingdom and the shared interest in training, capacity building, and youth development initiatives.
The RBDF, under the leadership of Commodore Floyd Moxey, is optimizing excellence by bridging generations and embracing modernization. As such, we remain committed to safeguarding our nation while building strong international partnerships that contribute to stability and progress.
