The Royal Bahamas Defence Force hosted its Annual Thanksgiving Cabana Competition at HMBS Coral Harbour on Friday, 21 November 2025, exemplifying the organization’s commitment to service, generosity, and community support. Designed to encourage charitable giving, the event focuses on the collection of canned goods and essential food items for those experiencing hardship and for RBDF veterans who have served the nation.

The Thanksgiving Cabana competition brings together departments across the Force, fostering camaraderie and teamwork through vibrant displays of creativity and thematic cabana designs. This year, the participating units included the Administration Department, Headquarters Department, Harbour Patrol Unit (HPU), Chaplaincy Section, RBDF Reserves, Military Police & Force Protection (MPFP), and Military Aid to Civil Authority (MACA). The Cabana displays were evaluated on theme execution, creativity, and the amount of canned goods and essential food items to be donated.

The Administration Department captured first place, receiving the winning trophy, a cash award, and stand-down time. The Headquarters Department earned second place, while the combined MPFP & MACA teams secured third place. Commander Defence Force, Commodore Floyd Moxey, attended the Thanksgiving Cabana Competition and commended all participants for their generosity, teamwork, and continued dedication to supporting one another and the broader Bahamian community.

The Royal Bahamas Defence Force under Commodore Moxey’s leadership, is optimizing excellence by bridging generations and embracing modernization. As such, we remain committed to strengthen the Force’s foundation of service, sacrifice, shared responsibility, gratitude and national pride.
