The Royal Bahamas Defence Force (RBDF) showcased its commitment to giving and service during its Departmental Thanksgiving Cabana Competition on November 21, 2024 held at HMBS Coral Harbour. This initiative, aimed at collecting canned goods and other food items for Bahamian veterans, united various units in a lively show of creativity and teamwork.
The event featured participation from the Bahamas Military and Maritime Academy (BMMA), Medical Facility, Administration Department, Supply Department, Headquarters, Engineering Department, Harbour Patrol Unit (HPU), Military Police and Force Protection (MPFP), and Military Aid to Civil Authority (MACA). Entries were judged on best themes, creativity, and the quantity of food items collected.
The Bahamas Military and Maritime Academy secured first place, earning the coveted trophy, a cash prize, and a five-day stand-down. The Supply Department and the combined MPFP & MACA teams received honorable mentions for their second and third-place finishes, respectively. The event was attended by Commander Defence Force, Commodore Raymond E. King, and Captain Coral Harbour, Glenn McPhee, who applauded the efforts and commitment of all participants.
In his remarks, Commodore King emphasized the importance of gratitude, camaraderie, and collective responsibility. He highlighted the significance of service to others and encouraged ongoing support for those who have selflessly served the nation.

In addition to this, acknowledging the contributions and continues to support our nation’s veterans who have paved the way. The Thanksgiving Cabana Competition exemplifies this vision, highlighting the RBDF’s gratitude and commitment to those who have served the nation.
