In an effort to raise awareness about diabetes in The Bahamas and support ongoing research for the condition, BAF Financial hosted its 3rd- Annual Dance for Diabetes event at Goodman’s Bay Beach, on Saturday, November 9, 2024.
The event was organized by Ms. Cecelia Cooper and Ms. Alliyah Austin, representatives from BAF Financial, alongside other sponsors, including the Public Hospitals Authority and the New Bahamas Diabetes Association. Their collaborative effort reflected promoted community engagement in addressing diabetes and living healthy lifestyles.
Participants enjoyed a series of dynamic fitness performances led by Royal Bahamas Defence Force Physical Training Instructors: Chief Petty Officer Denise Oliver, Leading Woman Marine Aniska Bonaby, and Able Seaman Fredrick Russell. The energetic displays were complemented by vibrant performances from Riq N Zumba and the Saxons Super Dancers, adding to the event’s lively atmosphere.
In addition to the dance activities, attendees were treated to a comprehensive Health and Wellness Fair, supported by local vendors. Some of the services provided included massage therapy, nutritious smoothies, and complimentary health screenings, including blood sugar, blood pressure, and cholesterol monitoring. These were all aimed at providing participants with a better approach to health, encouraging them to incorporate fitness and wellness into their daily routines.
The Royal Bahamas Defence Force, under the leadership of Commander Defence Force, Commodore Raymond E. King, continues to support initiatives that promote public health and well-being, aligning with its mission to serve the nation and contribute positively to community development.
