Commander Defence Force, Commodore Floyd Moxey, commends our most recent Commandos who successfully completed the prestigious Commando Qualification Course at the Caribbean Special Tactics Center in Jamaica.

Marine Seaman Giano Fowler and Marine Seaman DeJoan Sturrup underwent the intensive eight-week program, which is recognized as one of the region’s most physically and mentally demanding military training courses and lasted from 28 April to 20 June 2025.

Particiapnts underwent advanced instruction in land and sea navigation, rappelling, tactical field operations, survival techniques, and small unit leadership. The course not only strengthens individual skill sets but also fosters regional interoperability, as it brings together participants from various Caribbean nations.

Commodore Moxey commended the marines on their achievement during the courtesy call, stating, “This course tests every dimension of a marine’s capabilities. Marine Seaman Fowler has not only passed but excelled. His dedication, strength, and discipline reflect the highest standards of the Royal Bahamas Defence Force.”

He further emphasized that the successful completion of such training demonstrates the RBDF’s commitment to investing in the development of its personnel. These achievements directly enhance the RBDF’s ability to respond to diverse security challenges, both at home and in collaboration with regional and international partners.
