One Hundred and Ten (110) suspected migrants were apprehended by Her Majesty’s Bahamian Ship (HMBS) Nassau, under the command of Lieutenant Commander Jataro McDonald, Monday 28 March 2022.While on routine patrol, HMBS Nassau received information from the United States Coast Guard (USCG) Mohawk and intercepted the fifty-five foot (55′) red and blue Haitian sloop approximately 16.22 nautical miles (NM) off Dog Rock Cay, Cay Sal Banks with eight minors, twenty one (21) females and eighty-one (81) males. In addition to this, Operation Bahamas Turks & Caicos (OPBAT) apprehended and handed over twenty-four (24) Cuban refugees to HMBS Nassau consisting of twenty-one (21) males and three (3) females. The migrants all appeared to be in good health, and were transported to Mathew Town, Inagua two (2) days ago where they were turned over to the relevant authorities for further processing.With the strategic plans set forth by Commander Defence Force, the Royal Bahamas Defence Force will continue to defend our nation’s borders.
