The Royal Bahamas Defence Force (RBDF) Military Police & Force Protection (MPFP) Unit hosted a Marine of the Quarter Award Ceremony on 07 August 2025 to recognize and honor exceptional service and performance. The event celebrated the dedication, professionalism, and commitment of marines who have demonstrated excellence in the execution of their duties.
During the ceremony, Marine Seaman Deavion Sherman was recognized as the runner-up, while Able Seaman Jason Edgecombe was named the Marine of the Second Quarter. Both marines were acknowledged for their outstanding performance, discipline, and devotion to service, which are all attributes that exemplify the high standards upheld by the Unit.
Awards were presented by Captain Coral Harbour, Captain Sonia Miller, Commanding Officer of the MPFP Unit, Commander Andrew Bowe, and MPFP Unit Executive Officer, Acting Sub Lieutenant Ezra Bodie Jr along with Base Executive Officer, Commander Byron Brown, Force Chief Petty Officer Arlington Clarke and Force Chief Petty Officer Gilbert Simmons.
Following the ceremony, Captain Sonia Miller conducted an official inspection of the MPFP Unit, as well as the Military Aid to Civilian Authority (MACA) Unit. During the inspection, she engaged in conversations with marines present, taking time to learn about the individuals who serve within these two vital components of the RBDF. Her engagement reflected a commitment to leadership presence and fostering morale among personnel.
