Captain Glenn McPhee, Captain Michael Hanna, Captain Derrick Ferguson, Commander Valentino Rolle and Commander Sidney Whyms attended the North American Maritime Security Initiative (NAMSI)  Executive Meeting hosted by Naval Forces Northern Command (NAVNORTH) in Norfolk, Virginia during 17 -20 May 2026 under the theme, Breaking Barriers to Cooperation.

NAMSI is the premier multilateral maritime security forum in the western hemisphere. The purpose of the NAMSI Executive Meeting is to provide a forum for senior level maritime stakeholders from the United States, Canada, and Mexico to meet for discussions on ways to advance trilateral cooperation and interoperability in support of the security and defence of North America. The Executive Meeting convenes biennially and includes participation from decision-makers (at the two-star level) within the U.S. interagency, to include the U.S. Navy, U.S. Coast Guard, USNORTHCOM, JIATF-South, U.S. Embassy-Mexico, as well as key leadership from the Mexican Navy and the Royal Canadian Navy.

The Meeting proved to be informative, relevant and aligned with Commander Defence Force Commodore Moxey’s strategic vision. It was expressed that the valued contribution of the RBDF delegation, especially during the senior level roundtable discussions, was operationally relevant and timely. A general observation suggest that considerations for the formal integration of The Bahamas and the RBDF into NAMSI is keenly welcomed.

One of the highlights of the Meeting was the ceremonial signing of the NAMSI Handbook by the United States of America, Canada and Mexico. Another highlight was the visit and tour of the USS Dwight Eisenhower (CVN-69), affectionately known as “IKE,”. Named after the 34th President of the United States of America, she is a nuclear-powered aircraft carrier which was commissioned in 1977 and serves as a premier platform for American global power projection and foreign policy.

Under the leadership of Commander Defence Force, Commodore Floyd Moxey, the RBDF is optimizing excellence by bridging generations and embracing modernization. As such we express sincere appreciation to the Director of Maritime Operations for U.S. Naval Forces Northern Command and Executive Agent of U.S. Northern Command for the North American Maritime Security Initiative (NAMSI), Rear Admiral Martin J. Muckian, for generously hosting the RBDF delegation.
