The Royal Bahamas Defence Force (RBDF) actively participated in the Ministry of Housing and Urban Renewal’s two-day Domestic Violence Training Workshop, held on 6–7 October 2025, with a closing ceremony on 8 October 2025 at the Church of God of Prophecy, East Street.
Representing the Royal Bahamas Defence Force were Captain Glenn McPhee, Command Staff Officer, along with Force Chief Petty Officer Raymond Sands, Force Chief Petty Officer Antoine Adams and Acting Force Chief Petty Officer Eunice Rolle.
Hosted in partnership with The Bahamas Crisis Centre, The Bahamas Christian Council, and the Royal Bahamas Police Force’s Domestic Violence Unit, the workshop was held under the theme “Creating Safe Homes and Stronger Communities.” The initiative sought to address the growing concern of domestic violence while equipping church leaders, frontline professionals, and community advocates with the tools and knowledge to better support survivors and their families.
The closing ceremony served as a noteworthy culmination of the workshop, featuring remarks by government leaders, including the Honourable Myles Laroda, Minister of Social Services, Information and Broadcasting; the Honourable Lisa Rahming, Minister of State for Housing and Urban Renewal; and the Honourable Keith Bell, Minister of Housing and Urban Renewal. Mrs. Ann-Marie Davis, Spouse of the Prime Minister, delivered the keynote address, commending the collaborative efforts of all stakeholders and urging continued action to end domestic violence.
The RBDF, under the leadership of Commodore Floyd Moxey, is optimizing excellence by bridging generations and embracing modernization. As such, this initiative reflects the ongoing commitment of the Royal Bahamas Defence Force, to standing in partnership with civic, religious, and governmental organizations to address the pressing issue of domestic violence.
