The Royal Bahamas Defence Force (RBDF) showcased its exceptional teamwork and camaraderie at the 4th Annual Dragon Boat Festival, held at Goodman’s Bay Park in Nassau on 30–31 August 2025. The highly anticipated event brought together teams from across the community, blending teamwork, and athleticism on the water.

On Saturday, 30 August, the RBDF had three teams participating in the event: the Mariners, Water Defenders, and Naval Destroyers who collectively participated in 12 races throughout the day. The Mariners took part in four races: the Open 500m, Open 200m, 24 & Under 200m, and the Round 2 Open 200m. The Water Defenders also competed in four events, challenging both the 500m and 200m heats. Matching their pace, the Naval Destroyers entered four races as well, contesting the 500m and 200m in both rounds. Together, these performances showcased the RBDF’s determination, discipline, and commitment to healthy competition.

The festival held its official ceremony on 31 August, the second day of the event, with an address delivered by Prime Minister the Hon. Philip Davis. Also in attendance were Cabinet Ministers, Captain Coral Harbour, Captain Sonia Miller, and Commissioner of Police Shanta Knowles. Their presence underscored the government’s ongoing support for community engagement, sporting initiatives, and cultural events that bring Bahamians together.

This year’s races brought spirited participation from a wide range of organizations, including Doctors Hospital, the Royal Bahamas Police Force, J. S. Johnson, Breezes, Baha Mar, and the Royal Bahamas Defence Force. Spectators were treated to lively entertainment, culminating in an electrifying Junkanoo Rush that celebrated Bahamian culture and left the crowd energized.

The Royal Bahamas Defence Force teams stood out not only for athletic performance but also for commitment to unity and collaboration, reinforcing the RBDF’s dedication to fostering national pride, strengthening community bonds, and promoting fitness through meaningful engagement in sporting and cultural activities.
