RBDF PARTICIPATES IN OFFICIAL FLAG DAY CEREMONY

The Royal Bahamas Defence Force (RBDF), proudly participated in the Official Flag Day Ceremony held at the Ministry of National Security Building on John F. Kennedy Drive on 1 July, 2025.

Flag Day symbolically marks the commencement of the nation’s annual Independence celebrations and serves as a patriotic call to all Bahamians to honour their heritage and national identity. It is a day when the national flag is raised with pride, and citizens don the colours of aquamarine, gold, and black in unified recognition of The Bahamas’ sovereign status and rich cultural legacy.

The ceremony began with marching contingents from both the RBDF and the Royal Bahamas Police Force (RBPF), accompanied by music from the combined RBDF and RBPF Band. The display reflected coordination and cooperation between the two sister agencies.

A prayer was delivered by Apostle Raymond Wells, Chaplain of the RBDF, who asked for protection and guidance for the nation’s leaders and service members.

Ms. Bridget Hepburn, Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of National Security, gave brief remarks and introduced the keynote speaker, the Honourable Wayne R. Munroe, KC, Minister of National Security.

Minister Munroe spoke about the duty of service members to protect the nation and the significance of the national flag as a symbol of unity and commitment. He also noted developments achieved over the past year and acknowledged the role of the country’s security forces in supporting national progress.
