The Royal Bahamas Defence Force (RBDF) recently and successfully deployed to Grand Cayman as part of Exercise Event Horizon 2025, a multinational, multi-agency, and multi-domain operation aimed at enhancing regional security and cooperation.

The exercise, which features the participation of the Cayman Islands Regiment, Jamaica Defence Force, Turks and Caicos Islands Regiment, and the RBDF, is designed to strengthen interoperability among armed forces, emergency services, and partner agencies.

Scenarios include humanitarian assistance, disaster relief, cyber communications, maritime law enforcement, and search and rescue operations.

RBDF Captain Sonia Miller and Lt. Colonel Ennis Grant, Commanding Officer of the Turks and Caicos Islands Regiment, were welcomed upon arrival by Ms. Dani Coleman, Director of Hazard Management, and Lt. Colonel Roger Carter, Commanding Officer of the Cayman Islands Regiment.

The opening ceremony, held in the Cayman Islands, featured remarks by Her Excellency Governor Jane Owen, who emphasized the importance of regional collaboration in bolstering disaster response and security readiness. She shared how the exercise represents a significant step toward building stronger, more resilient relationships among regional partners. She also suggested that through these simulations, there is formidable and collective operational capacity and the bonds of cooperation assist when having to face shared challenges.

Participants toured the operational campsites following the ceremony, allowing forces to familiarize themselves with the exercise layout.

Under the leadership of Commander Defence Force, Commodore Raymond E. King, the RBDF remains committed to ensuring its personnel are equipped, trained, and prepared for maritime security, disaster relief, and peacekeeping operations.

This marks the RBDF’s second consecutive involvement in Exercise Event Horizon, further showcasing its dedication to fostering regional resilience and operational excellence.
