Today, Captain Coral Harbour Glenn McPhee met with Ms. Susan Schauff, Vice President of the Bahamas Motor Sports Association (BMSA), to discuss an exciting new initiative, “Edukarting Bahamas.”

This unique program combines the thrill of motorsport with life skills training, providing young participants with a hands-on way to build essential abilities both on and off the track. They also reviewed plans for the program’s upcoming “Racing for Diabetes” event, the first in what BMSA and its partner organization, FIA, hope will become an annual series.

“Edukarting Bahamas” is an innovative program that combines the excitement of kart racing with “stealth education,” where students gain practical experience in mechanics, math, communication, and teamwork. Participants take on real-world challenges, like managing a budget to buy race and safety equipment or
creating and delivering a detailed safety briefing. This approach helps students develop critical skills that can determine how well a team performs on the track.

By focusing on preparation and teamwork, “Edukarting Bahamas” shows students that real success comes from the hard work and cooperation that happens before a race even begins. Through these lessons, BMSA aims to foster a sense of responsibility, leadership, and collaboration in each participant.

The Royal Bahamas Defence Force is proud to support community programs that encourage skill- building and educational development in a dynamic, engaging way.

The RBDF under the leadership of Commodore Raymond King remains focused on strengthening the organization’s relationship with the community and stakeholders as a community leader and corporate citizen.
