The Royal Bahamas Defence Force (RBDF) received a courtesy call on Friday, 6 February 2026, at Defence Force Headquarters as part of ongoing engagements with key international partners.
The Royal Bahamas Defence Force (RBDF) hosted H.E. Ms. Maria Velasco, Ambassador of the Kingdom of Sweden to The Bahamas, as part of ongoing diplomatic engagements and cooperation. The Ambassador was formally received by Deputy Commander Defence Force Captain Natasha Miller, and members of the RBDF Executive Leadership on behalf of Commander Defence Force Commodore Floyd Moxey.
During the engagement, Ambassador Velasco expressed her appreciation for the opportunity to meet with the Royal Bahamas Defence Force leadership, and highlighted the importance of strengthening relations between Sweden and The Bahamas. She noted that the courtesy call also coincided with the visit of a Swedish naval sailing training schooner (HSwMS GLADAN), underscoring shared interests in maritime training, seamanship, and naval traditions.
Discussions explored avenues for engagement and cooperation, particularly in the areas of maritime training and professional exchange. Additionally, the dialogue reflects the RBDF’s commitment to maintaining relationships with international partners.
The Royal Bahamas Defence Force under Commodore Moxey’s leadership, is optimizing excellence by bridging generations and embracing modernization.
