AT SAINT FRANCIS XAVIER CATHEDRAL.
Commander Defence Force, Commodore Floyd Moxey, alongside the Training Department and 134 recruits from New Entry 62 Woman Entry 31, attended Sunday Mass at Saint Francis Xavier Cathedral on 29 June 2025.
The recruits, having undergone several weeks of intense and demanding military training, were given this moment to step away from the barracks and into a space of peace and spiritual grounding. The service was not only a time of worship but also a reminder of values such as discipline, service, and faith, which are woven into the very fabric of the Royal Bahamas Defence Force. The congregation welcomed them warmly, offering prayers, encouragement, and blessings for the journey ahead.
Family members came out in strong support, lining the cathedral with love, pride, and open arms. After the service, recruits were granted a brief but meaningful opportunity to reconnect with their families, where they shared hugs, smiles, and much-needed words of reassurance. The atmosphere was emotional, uplifting, and filled with a renewed energy that could be felt in every handshake and embrace.
Retired Commodore Davy Rolle and his wife were also in attendance, lending their presence as a symbol of enduring support and legacy. It was a moment that reminded everyone that behind every uniform stands a network of strength.
As a token of appreciation for the warm hospitality and spiritual encouragement, the Royal Bahamas Defence Force made a special donation to the church, which was graciously received by parish leadership. The gesture not only reflected gratitude but also underscored the RBDF’s respect for institutions that strengthen the moral fabric of the nation.
The experience left the recruits recharged and ready to face the challenges ahead with a clear mind and a steady heart. As they returned to their training grounds, they did so not only as future marines, but as young men and women fortified by faith, family, and an newfound commitment to serve with pride and purpose.
Under the leadership of Commander Defence Force, Commodore Floyd Moxey, the Royal Bahamas Defence Force is committed to upholding the highest standards of training and service as we aim to Guard Our Heritage.
