The Royal Bahamas Defence Force (RBDF) patrol craft HMBS Nassau conducted a community outreach initiative on the island of Inagua on August 26 and 29, 2024. The ship’s company, led by Commander Sidney Whyms, visited the local all-age school to provide assistance and support.
During their visit, the RBDF personnel met with Lindo Hanchell, the principal of the Inagua all-age school. The marines and engineers on board the HMBS Nassau lent their expertise to various tasks, including light repairs, groundskeeping, and painting, to prepare the school for the upcoming academic year.
This community outreach initiative demonstrates the RBDF’s commitment to serving the Bahamian people and contributing to the development of local communities. By providing assistance to the school, the RBDF helped ensure that students have a safe and conducive learning environment.
Under the leadership of Commander Defence Force, Commodore Raymond E. King, the Royal Bahamas Defence Force exemplifies its commitment to be a responsible corporate citizenship through a range of extensive outreach initiatives and projects. These endeavors aim to strengthen community relations, positively impact individuals, and contribute to the development of thriving communities.
