RBDF TEAMS UP WITH NATIONAL AGENCIES FOR HURRICANE PREPAREDNESS EXPO

Members of the Royal Bahamas Defence Force (RBDF) teamed up with several national agencies to promote hurricane safety during the Disaster Risk Management Authority’s Hurricane Preparedness Month Expo, held on 17 May 2025 at the Mall at Marathon.

The event brought together groups like the Bahamas Red Cross, Department of Social Services, Royal Bahamas Police Force, and Water and Sewerage Corporation—all working together to share helpful tips and information with the public. The goal was simple: to help Bahamians get ready and stay safe ahead of the upcoming hurricane season.

Representing the RBDF were Captain Coral Harbour, Captain Sonia Miller, Petty Officer Tyrone Brown, Petty Officer Karia Smith, and Leading Seaman Ronard Hall from the Disaster Risk Management Department. Alongside other agencies, they offered expert advice, checklists for emergency supplies, and hands-on demonstrations to show people how to prepare and what to do if a storm hits. To keep the day fun and engaging, the RBDF and the Disaster Risk Management Authority handed out prizes and giveaways, encouraging people to take part while highlighting the importance of being storm-ready.

The RBDF is proud to support events like this as part of its mandate to provide assistance during times of natural and national disaster. By helping communities prepare before a storm hits, the RBDF continues to play a key role in protecting lives and supporting national resilience.
