The Royal Bahamas Defence Force today bid a final farewell to Ret. Force Chief Petty Officer Eric Brown, who was laid to rest with Semi Military Honours following a funeral service at Evangelistic Temple at 11:00 a.m.

At the solemn Service, Captain Henry Daxon Senior Executive Staff Officer represented Commander Defence Force Commodore Floyd Moxey along with members of the Executive Leadership, Officers, Warrant Officer, Marines, Veterans, family members, and loved ones, all gathering to pay their final respects to a Warrant Officer who served his country with distinction for over 32 years.

Force Chief Petty Officer Brown enlisted on the 1st of May, 1978, when our Force was still finding its footing as an institution. He was among the generation of pioneers who built the foundation upon which we now stand.

His service record reads like a tour of the entire Defence Force. He served aboard HMBS Abaco. He wore the coveted green beret as a member of the Military Operations Platoon. He contributed to the Base Supply Department, Port Security, the Harbour Patrol Unit, and ultimately served as Master at Arms in the Administration Department. That appointment speaks to the trust his superiors placed in his judgment, professionalism, character, fairness, and integrity.

In 1988, Force Chief Petty Officer Brown was among a select few chosen to participate in the All Arms Commando Training at the Commando Training Centre Royal Marines in Lympstone, England. It is one of the most demanding military courses in the world. He did not simply attend. He completed it. That accomplishment alone tells you everything about his resolve.

His service earned recognition through both the Commander Defence Force Commendation and the National Security Council Commendation. He took his professional development seriously, completing training in United States coast guard international law enforcement training & the Senior Non-Commissioned Officer Course with the Barbados Defence Force.

A memorial service was held in her honour on February 10, 2025, at HMBS Coral Harbour, where the Defence Force community gathered to remember his life and service.

The Royal Bahamas Defence Force extends its deepest condolences to the family and friends of Retired Force Chief Petty Officer Eric Brown. On behalf of Commander Defence Force Commodore Floyd Moxey, Officers, Marines, Reserves, and Veterans, we share in the grief and honour his memory.

May his Soul rest in peace.
