The Royal Bahamas Defence Force (RBDF) and The Bahamas Military and Maritime Academy, in collaboration with the US Northern Command Office of Defence Cooperation, successfully hosted a specialized course for RBDF personnel, which ran from Monday, December 2, 2024, to Friday, December 6, 2024.
The training focused on emphasizing instructional strategies and equipping participants with essential skills for effective teaching and leadership.
Participants engaged in comprehensive sessions covering topics such as Fundamentals of Instructional Preparation, Instructional Delivery Methods, Instructional Design Principles, and
Assessment Techniques and Professionalism. Led by a team of three expert instructors: Sergeant First Class Turner, Staff Sergeant Baker, and Staff Sergeant Nolan, the program provided practical insights and best practices to enhance instructional efficacy and professionalism.
The course concluded with a graduation ceremony where participants were recognized for their dedication. During the event, certificates of completion were awarded.
Acting Captain Coral Harbour, Captain Michael Simmons, addressed the attendees on behalf of the Commander Defence Force and the RBDF. He expressed gratitude to the Rhode Island
National Guard for their invaluable training support and underscored the importance of continuous learning.
“Training and growth never stop,” Captain Simmons remarked. “It is vital to embrace opportunities like these, which not only strengthen individual capabilities but also fortify the future of our organization.”
Speaking on behalf of the instructors, Staff Sergeant Baker commended the participants for their courage and commitment. He encouraged them to lead by example and to confront challenges with confidence, assuring them that their newly acquired skills would enable them to overcome obstacles and inspire positive change.
Led by Commander Defence Force, Commodore Raymond King, the Royal Bahamas Defence Force remains steadfast in its mission to develop its personnel through meaningful training opportunities, ensuring they are well-prepared to meet the dynamic demands of their roles. This collaboration marks another step in fostering strong partnerships and advancing the capabilities of the force.
