The outgoing Director of Operation Bahamas Turks and Caicos (OPBAT), Commander Michael Benson paid a courtesy call on Commander Defence Force, Commodore Raymond King on 11 May 2021 at HMBS CORAL HARBOUR.
During the meeting, Commander Benson shared words of gratitude for the cooperation experienced with the Defence Force during his tenure as Director. He has served twenty years as a member of the United States Coast Guard, serving approximately three years as Director of OPBAT.
The incoming Director, Commander Dave Sheppard, who was also in attendance, has been closely working with OPBAT operations during the past years. He also shared words of optimism for his upcoming tenure, emphasizing that his time spent has given him a unique appreciation for the operation, and an intimate understanding of what is to be expected.
Commander Sheppard was also introduced to the RBDF’s Leadership and Executive Command Team, following which, he and Commander Benson were presented with keepsakes from Commodore King. As the world continues to develop as a global community, the Royal Bahamas Defence Force values the relationships of its international partners.
