The week-long Psychology of Leadership Course brought together participants from various branches of law enforcement, including the Royal Bahamas Defence Force (RBDF), Royal Bahamas Police Force (RBPF), Bahamas Customs, Bahamas Immigration Department, the Department of Correctional Services, the Cayman Islands, and Turks & Caicos Islands.
The Course was facilitated by representatives from the British Royal Military Academy Sandhurst on board HMBS Coral Harbour Base from 24 – 28 May 2024.
The Course supports the development of effective leaders by equipping them with practical techniques for dealing with the complexities and natural everyday challenges of leadership. The Course was aimed at providing participants with the ability to:
1. Compare six mainstream theories of motivation and team dynamics.
2. Describe the source of power and how to influence and persuade others.
3. Evaluate the main factors to consider when preparing people for change.
4. Improve your decision making.
The British High Commissioner to The Bahamas, H.E. Mr. Tom Hartley was in attendance for the Opening Ceremony and admonished participants that one of the keys to great leadership is possessing vision and elaborated with the following. Leaders are the ones who set the vision. A good leader inspires the team to deliver that vision and a great leader inspires the team to lead themselves.
The Deputy British High Commissioner to The Bahamas, H.E. Ms. Katie Schawrz was in attendance for the Closing Ceremony and presented participants with Certificates of Completion.

These foster greater opportunities as strategic alliances to effectively address both existing and potential national security challenges.
