As part of their commitment to community leadership and service, Royal Bahamas Defence Force (RBDF) personnel enrolled in the Leading Seaman Leadership Course made a substantial donation of non-perishable food items to Great Commission Ministries, located on Wulff Road. Demonstrating the RBDF’s dedication to serving beyond the uniform, the marines also assisted in offloading large containers filled with various food supplies for the organization, which provides vital support to vulnerable members of the community.
Great Commission Ministries, an invaluable pillar of support, often appeals for continued assistance to sustain their impactful work. Founded in November 1987 by Bishop Walter Hanchell, the ministry has been a beacon of hope for over three decades, offering aid and compassion to those most in need. Its commitment to the welfare of the community embodies the spirit of selflessness, making it an essential partner in the RBDF’s community outreach efforts.
In addition to their material contribution, the marines took time to interact with individuals who are dependent or partially dependent on the ministry’s services, offering words of encouragement that fostered a spirit of unity and support. This engagement not only strengthened the bond between the RBDF and the community but also provided emotional upsliftment for those facing difficult circumstances.
This initiative underscores the Defence Force’s role as leaders within the community, highlighting the importance of compassion, outreach, and service. The RBDF has maintained an active partnership with Great Commission Ministries, collaborating with the organization as recently as November 2023 and May 2024. The donation and hands-on involvement reflect the RBDF’s belief that small acts of kindness can create a significant impact, particularly during challenging times.
As community leaders, the Royal Bahamas Defence Force remains committed to positively influencing the lives of those they serve, ensuring their efforts extend beyond safeguarding national security to fostering resilience, hope, and compassion within the wider Bahamian society.

King, the Royal Bahamas Defence Force exemplifies its commitment to be a responsible corporate citizenship through a range of extensive outreach initiatives and projects.
