The Commander Defence Force, Commodore Raymond King met with Captain Delvin Major, Chief Investigator of the Aircraft Accident Investigation Authority of The Bahamas on October 30, 2020 to sign a Memorandum of Understanding with the two organizations.
Captain Major spoke to the need for a well-trained, rapid response first response team to handle all aviation accidents that may occur in the future. He also spoke to the Defence Force getting an official designation from the government to further diversify and expand the Defence Force current portfolio. Captain Major also mentioned the inclusion of a virtual learning platform that would allow officers on the family islands to have access to the dynamic training portals.
Commodore King was in agreement with the remarks made by Captain Major, further alluding to the need to meet international compliance standards and comprehensive training for all agencies involved. Additionally, Commodore King made mention of the United States commitment in supporting and boosting the search and rescue capabilities of the Defence Force.
On completion of the meeting Commodore King presented Captain Major with a keepsake.
