Morgan Simms, 2023-2024 Primary School Student of the Year for Queen’s College, paid a courtesy call on Commander Defence Force, Commodore Raymond King at Defence Headquarters, John F. Kennedy Drive, on Wednesday December 6, 2023.

The sixth-grade student was accompanied by Vice Principal Mrs. Sylvia Beneby, Computer Teacher Jerez Rolle, Guidance Counselor Reverend Cleveland Wells, and twelve classmates, who were all selected to fill the role of class prefects for the school year.

Simms earned the nomination for student of the year due to her exceptional commitment to academics and for her remarkable initiative titled “A Gift for Those Who Sacrifice and Serve”. The idea involved purchasing books and toys for children of Defence Force personnel which were distributed during the Annual Children’s Christmas party.

As the daughter of Royal Bahamas Defence Force officers, Senior Lieutenants Elwood and Elizabeth Simms, the eleven-year old’s initiative was motivated by the service and dedication of members of the Royal Bahamas Defence Force who make countless sacrifices in service to the country.

During the meeting the importance of her recent undertaking was expressed to Commodore King and his Executive Command team and to commemorate the visit, gifts were presented to students.

Under the Leadership of Commodore Raymond King, the organization reinforces its commitment to nurturing leadership and dedication within the youth, empowering them to contribute meaningfully to society.
