Defence Headquarters, 12 June ‘23 (RBDF): Commander Defence Force, Commodore Raymond King, accompanied by his wife retired Force Chief Petty Officer Fredricka King and members of the Royal Bahamas Defence Force, assisted the Hillview Stingers Pathfinder Club on their field exercise held on Saturday, June 10, 2023.
The track and trail hike which consisted of sixty (60) Pathfinders between the ages of 5- 16, began at the Gladstone Road well fields and concluded at Adelaide Beach for a total of seven miles, with the Adventurers group (ages 5 -9) completing three (3) miles. RBDF members concluded the event with a presentation on team building and safety skills activities.
The Pathfinders program is an international church-based program birthed in the Seventh-day Adventist church that seeks to build discipline, teamwork and survival skills amongst youth. Group Leader, Camille Butler expressed her appreciation for the momentous role The Royal Bahamas Defence Force has played over the years as it relates to the development and advancement of SDA Pathfinders by assisting with various events and extending mentorship towards youth development.
Commodore King noted the importance of the organization’s involvement in three pillars. Stating that in addition to “Guarding Our Heritage”, the RBDF acts as nation builders through lending
support to youth programs that ensure the next generation displays discipline, leadership and determination as good corporate citizens, and through community relations as a responsible
corporate citizen in giving back to community in meaningful ways.
