Defence Headquarters, 06 NOV. ‘23 (RBDF): An update on the search and rescue efforts for an individual who went overboard from a cruise ship on Friday, November 3rd, reveals that the search has, regrettably, yielded negative results.
HMBS Kamalamee, a vessel from the Royal Bahamas Defence Force, joined HMBS Madeira in the search near Cay Sal, but up until Saturday evening, they reported negative findings.
The cruise ship – the Norwegian Pearl – from which the individual went overboard, was also actively participating in the search effort, but was forced to suspend their search and resume their passage to their next port.
Despite the aggressive search efforts conducted over the weekend by the Royal Bahamas Defence Force, the OPBAT (Operation Bahamas, Turks and Caicos) partnership, and the Norwegian Pearl Cruise Ship, the search was eventually suspended.
All parties involved in the search and rescue operation remain vigilant for any new information or developments. While the search is currently suspended, our commitment to safety remains steadfast, and we are dedicated to cooperating with relevant authorities, maintaining an open line of communication to respond to any new developments as they occur.
Our thoughts are with the individual and their loved ones during this challenging time.
