In recognition of National Diabetes Awareness Month, and part of its corporate responsibility, the RBDF participated in the inaugural Dance for Diabetes. This event was coordinated by Ms. Cecilia Cooper, Marketing Director and Events Coordinator for BAF Global Group, Mr. Leyvon Miller, representative for Arawak Cay and Warrant Command Officer, Force Chief Petty Officer Remone Storr, Royal Bahamas Defence Force
These health and wellness, aerobic sessions, were held on Saturday, 19 November, 2022, at Arawak Cay and were conducted by the Royal Bahamas Defence Force Physical Training Instructors (PTI’s) namely; Petty Officer Denise Oliver, Leading Woman Aniska Bonaby and Able Seaman Troy Seymour. Mr.‘Comby’ Smith from Caribbean Sweat Fitness was also a guest fitness instructor. A vast amount of participants came out to support the worthy cause as they enjoyed a genre of different music that culminated with a Junkanoo rush out. After the sessions, participants were given words of encouragement and advice, regarding the importance of incorporating fitness as a lifestyle and were also given health screenings. Representatives from the Public Hospital Authorities and Nassau Agencies Ltd were at the event.
The RBDF remains committed to supporting initiatives geared towards promoting health and fitness throughout the community.
