Defence Force vessel P-133, commanded by Leading Seaman Miguel Mortimer, apprehended an American fishing vessel while conducting a routine patrol in the western region of Memory Rock on Monday, February 26, 2024.
During their patrol, the crew observed the American vessel and approached for further investigation and subsequently boarded the vessel.
Upon inspection, a search revealed a small quantity of scale fishes on board. The Captain and crew were requested to provide proper documentation for their catch. It was uncovered that the captain and four crew members had violations under the Customs, Fisheries, and Immigration acts. Consequently, both the vessel and its crew were taken into custody.
P-133 detained and escorted the vessel and crew to West End, Grand Bahama, where they were handed over to the appropriate authorities.
This routine boarding exemplifies the vigilance of the Royal Bahamas Defence Force in enforcing regulations and maintaining security within our nation’s borders.
