The Bahamas Reef Environment Educational Foundation (BREEF), partnered with The Bahamas Wildlife Enforcement Network (BahWEN), to host a five-day Marine Conservation Workshop at the Royal Bahamas Defence Force Base, Coral Har-bour from September 26 to 30, 2022. The workshop engaged at least 15 participants from various BahWEN agencies (Defence Force (RBDF), Police Force (RBPF), Department of Marine Resources (DMR), Bahamas National Trust (BNT), Customs) in interactive classroom snorkeling activities designed to increase both awareness and knowledge of the science behind Bahamian marine conservation laws.Some of the areas covered included: Invasive & Native Species, Environmental Pollution, Climate Change, Fisheries Regulations, Coral Reefs, Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species (CITES), Bahamian Marine Ecosystems, Marine Organism identification, and much more.The workshop ended with certificate presentations to the participants, during a ceremony attended by RBDF Captain Coral Harbour, Captain Glenn McPhee. The Royal Bahamas Defence Force recognizes its social and corporate responsibility as environmental stewards.
